Mcdearmon’s 7 Kills, 5 Aces Power Martinsville Past Chrisman in Straight Sets

CHRISMAN, Ill. — Addison Mcdearmon hit .357 with seven kills and served five aces as the Martinsville volleyball team swept Chrisman 2-0 in a non-conference road match on Sept. 28.

The junior was the most efficient attacker on the floor, converting seven of her 14 swings into kills while committing just two errors, and she added six digs and four assists in a complete all-around performance. Her work behind the service line was just as damaging — five aces on 11 serves, a 45.5 percent ace rate that repeatedly broke up Chrisman’s passing and handed the Bluestreaks free points in both sets.

Martinsville’s offense ran through setter Molly Kannamacher, who distributed 13 assists on 40 ball-handling attempts and chipped in 11 digs and an ace. The junior spread the ball well enough to get four Bluestreaks into multiple-kill territory, with Hope Hammond adding five kills and two aces and Austyn Davidson, the lone sophomore in the rotation, putting down four kills on 10 swings.

Defensively, Martinsville kept rallies alive all night. Senior Trinity Simons led the team with 13 digs, while Kannamacher and fellow senior Harper Baird each added 11. Baird also handled the bulk of the serve-receive load, taking 12 receptions with just one error and giving Kannamacher clean looks at the net. Bella Reed contributed five digs and four receptions from the back row.

At the net, Hammond recorded two block assists, with Kannamacher and Davidson adding one apiece. As a team, the Bluestreaks finished with 20 kills, 20 assists, eight aces and 53 digs.

The win moves Martinsville to 15-10 on the season. Chrisman falls to 2-18.
